long, physical linebacker prospect with real edge-to-LB upside
Taeshawn Alston entered South Carolina as a 2025 freshman linebacker/EDGE at 6-3, 245, bringing a downhill, disruptive profile built on production and versatility rather than flash. In high school, he posted strong backfield-rattling numbers, including 38 tackles and 12 tackles for loss as a senior, after earlier seasons with 67 tackles, 13.5 TFLs and 7 sacks as a sophomore. Analysts described him as a high-motor defender with a strong football IQ, and South Carolina viewed him as a conversion candidate from EDGE to off-ball linebacker. At this point, he’s more intriguing developmental bet than finished product.
