veteran backstop with defensive value and on-base patience
Joe Cilea is a 2026 redshirt junior catcher at Indiana who brings a polished defensive profile, disciplined at-bats, and steady veteran experience after recovering from a hip injury that wiped out his 2024 season and a full-health 2025 campaign at Sacred Heart in which he played 42 games, drew 25 walks, hit .979 in the field, and threw out 18 runners. He’s not a loud power bat, but he does the little catcher things that coaches love: game management, durability, and solid academic/locker-room credibility. If your team wants a reliable, right-handed receiving piece with a mature approach, Cilea fits the bill.
