Evan Freeney brings a safety-first, special-teams edge to UNI
In the 2025 season, Evan Freeney appeared in four games on special teams for UNI and recovered a fumble against South Dakota State, while entering 2026 as a 6-foot, 195-pound sophomore safety from Bel Air, Maryland. His value is the little-things package: reliable frame, special-teams juice, and a reputation for production and recognition in high school, where he earned First Team All-State honors and ranked No. 17 in Maryland in total tackles in 2024. If a team wants a physical, intelligent back-end defender who plays with effort and can help on coverage units, he fits the mold nicely.
