Vanessa Smith brings battle-tested energy and infield versatility to SIUE
Smith, a 5-foot-5 infielder, arrives at SIU Edwardsville with first-team all-league honors, a championship résumé from Benicia High, and a reputation for playing with real enthusiasm against strong competition in club ball and high school ball. SIUE’s coaching staff highlights her energy and battle-tested background, which makes her a fit for teams that value toughness, versatility, and a spark-plug presence rather than just raw numbers. In short: she looks like the kind of glue player who can raise the room, not just the box score.
