Makaree Chapman is giving NKU a freshman ace with real swing-and-miss upside
In the 2026 season, Makaree Chapman has already earned two Horizon League Pitcher of the Week honors and flashed the kind of two-way value coaches love: she opened with a 0.60 ERA over 11.2 innings, then followed later with a week of 13.2 innings, a save, and no earned runs. The left-hander has shown she can handle big workloads, finish games, and bounce back after rough outings, which says a lot about competitive toughness. Add in her outfield versatility, and she looks like a high-upside fit for a staff that wants an attacker, not a passenger.
