versatile EIU infielder with upside, but still building his game
In the 2026 season, Chase Bays did not appear in any games for Eastern Illinois, so the intrigue comes more from his profile than his box score[1][4]. A 6-foot, 200-pound right-handed infielder from Edwardsburg, Michigan, he was rated as an athletic, strong-bodied middle-infield type in prep scouting[3][11]. His college resume also shows he has already logged pitching work, which hints at versatility and arm strength[1]. If a team wants a flexible, developmental piece with projection rather than immediate production, Bays fits that mold.
