a veteran UMBC guard with a low-usage, steady-handed profile
Marcel Thompson’s most recent UMBC stat line we can verify is from the 2019-20 season, when the 6-foot-5 guard appeared in five games after transferring from South Plains College and averaged 0.4 points in 3.3 minutes with three assists. His value is more about experience and context than box-score pop: he was part of a junior-college national championship team and also logged a debut 15-point game at Grambling State, suggesting he’s been around winning environments and can handle a role without needing the ball. If you need instant scoring, he’s not your guy; if you want an experienced, team-first guard, he fits the mold.
