Steady Defensive Guard with High-Intensity Presence for South Carolina State
Allen Hatchett Jr. is a high-intensity freshman guard for the South Carolina State Bulldogs who differentiates himself through relentless defensive effort, averaging 0.6 steals per game in the 2018-19 season despite modest scoring (3.2 PPG). His differentiator is not statistical volume but personality: he plays with a 'never-sit' intensity, rarely taking bad shots, and is known among teammates for his clutch 3-pointer that helped secure a 19-point lead in the 2019 MEAC Tournament. While his assists (0.6/game) and points rank low among guards, his defensive hustle and team-first mindset make him a reliable fit for teams needing a gritty, low-mistake backup guard who elevates locker room energy. No injury history is reported, and his career-high 13 points in a 2019 NCAA road loss shows he can deliver when needed.
