Clayton Lakatos brings local-talent upside and defensive toughness to SIU’s safety room
Lakatos enters Southern Illinois as a 6-foot-1, 190-pound freshman safety with real two-way and special-teams flavor: in his 2024 senior season at Edwardsville, he logged 120 tackles, an interception, a blocked punt, a blocked field goal and two fumble recoveries. He looks like a high-motor, physical defender who shows up everywhere, and the local tie plus proven production make him a fun developmental fit for a Salukis secondary that can use downhill energy and reliability.
