Toni Purchas brings pop, speed, and clutch presence behind the plate
In the 2026 season, Grambling catcher Toni Purchas has been a useful spark in the lineup, hitting .240 with 12 hits, 5 RBIs, and 2 stolen bases, while also showing strong defensive value with a .922 fielding percentage and 12 assists from the catcher spot.[13] She has shown the kind of grit coaches love: she’s been credited with timely extra-base impact, run-scoring plays, and even stolen-base pressure, while Grambling coverage regularly places her in key moments rather than as a silent passenger.[1][2][5]
