LIU Sharks Freshman SS Flashing Elite Speed and On-Base Skills
Nate Figueroa, a 5-7, 160-lb freshman shortstop/second baseman for the Long Island University Sharks from Colonie, N.Y., dominated high school in 2025-26 with a .312 BA, .553 OBP, 15 hits, 18 runs, and 8 RBI—well above national averages—while posting scout-friendly metrics like 91 mph exit velo, 86 mph INF velo, and a blazing 6.88 60-yard dash that marks him as rangy and above-average speed up the middle. Clean actions and forward momentum make him a glove-first infielder with pop; uncommitted pre-college but now a Sharks gem—perfect fit for teams needing dynamic, high-energy middle infield depth.
