Ashlyn Enke is giving UNI a freshman punch on the mound
In the 2026 season, Northern Iowa freshman pitcher Ashlyn Enke emerged fast enough to earn MVC Freshman of the Week honors after opening with a 2-0 week, 13.2 innings, 16 strikeouts and opponents hitting just .246 against her[1][2]. The right-hander has already shown starter-level poise with multiple wins and double-digit strikeout upside, and her high-school résumé suggests a durable, competitive arm with plenty of runway[1]. If a team wants a young pitcher who can grow into a frontline role, Enke looks like a real fit[1][2].
