Ella Cady brings speed-first depth and defensive flexibility for Illinois
Ella Cady is a junior outfielder for Illinois, a left-handed bat/right-handed thrower from Clarkston, Michigan, who ranked 227th nationally in the 2023 class and has earned opportunities in a crowded roster. In the 2025 season, she appeared in six games and in 2024 she played in four games, which points to a developmental role rather than a stat-stuffing profile. The appeal is roster versatility, experience, and a still-room-to-grow athletic track record — the kind of player who can fit if a team values defense, coaching, and upside over immediate box-score fireworks.
