Blake Gaskey brings late-season poise and swing-and-miss relief value to NIU
Blake Gaskey, a senior right-hander for Northern Illinois in the 2026 season, has been a steady arm with real leverage value: he earned a win in relief on opening weekend and picked up multiple saves during the year, including a scoreless ninth for his third save on May 8, 2026. NIU’s own game notes and recaps show he can miss bats, work in high-pressure spots, and give the Huskies innings when the game tightens up. He’s the kind of experienced, competitive pitcher coaches trust when the margin gets skinny.
