Edward McCleod brings real power and immediate upside to Samford’s infield
In the 2024 recruiting cycle, Samford coach Tony David said McCleod had a chance to be a “really special player” and expected him to play right away, calling “real power” his best trait; McCleod’s high-school resume backs that up, including a .460 average with nine homers as a junior, plus first-team All-State honors, two Mobile County Player of the Year awards, and Alabama Newcomer of the Year recognition. He looks like a physical, impact infielder who can change a lineup with one swing and fits a team that values immediate run production.
