Dawson Mooney brings legit lefty starter upside to Gonzaga
Mooney enters Gonzaga as a 6-foot-1, 205-pound freshman left-hander with real in-state pedigree: Gonzaga lists him as the 3rd-ranked high school pitching prospect in Washington, and prep coverage noted a fastball up to 88 mph plus a changeup and high-spin curveball. He was Liberty Christian’s Player of the Year in both 2024 and 2025, which hints at feel, competitiveness, and consistent dominance rather than just raw stuff. That profile makes him an intriguing developmental fit for a staff that values strike-throwing arms with projection.
