Big-bodied freshman lefty with early strikeout upside for Akron
Herchelroath is a 6-foot-3, 210-pound freshman left-hander from Elizabeth, Pa., and Akron has already used him in meaningful spots in 2026. He picked up a win on Feb. 14, 2026 after throwing 5 innings with 1 hit, 1 run and 5 strikeouts, and the Zips later noted he led the staff in ERA at 1.80 through an early season sample[2][4]. He’s the kind of arm you care about because his frame and left-handed look give him real starter potential, though an uneven outing on March 1, 2026 showed his command still needs polish[2][6].
