Payton Matthews brings gritty contact and versatility to Manhattan’s outfield
In the 2026 season, Payton Matthews hit .175 with a .257 OBP and .238 SLG for Manhattan, but his value goes beyond the box score: he played in all 57 games, appeared in 30, and showed a willingness to do the little things with sacrifice bunts, run creation, and opportunistic baserunning. Listed at 5-foot-11, 190 pounds, the left-handed hitter offers steady defensive flexibility and a competitive, team-first profile that can fit a program looking for toughness, reliability, and depth over flash.
