High-upside Arkansas lefty with power-frame pedigree, but pro-ready impact is still unproven
Joey Lorenzini arrived at Arkansas as a highly touted 2025 class arm—Perfect Game had him as the No. 217 overall prospect and No. 22 left-handed pitcher, and Arkansas listed him at 6-foot-5, 225 pounds with a true starter’s frame[1][9]. The intriguing part is the ceiling: reports praised his long limbs, athleticism, and draft buzz, while Arkansas pitching coach Matt Hobbs said, “I love him,” and noted his stuff can play differently than most arms[10][14]. The caution flag is real, though—his Arkansas career was derailed by injury and he finished with just one inning of work, so the fit is more bet-on-tools than proven production[3][8].
