Iona Gaels' Sophomore Powerhouse with a Clutch 8th-Inning HR and Elite Defensive Versatility
Addie Smith, a 5'6" sophomore catcher/infielder for the Iona Gaels, delivered a go-ahead home run in the 8th inning of Game 2 to spark a 3-run rally, showcasing her clutch intensity and game-changing strength beyond her .261 AVG and 16 RBI in the 2026 season [1][2]. Her differentiator is her rare versatility—starting 38 of 43 games primarily at first base while maintaining elite defensive instincts at catcher, a trait that makes her a perfect fit for teams needing a reliable, multi-position player [6]. With a .395 slugging percentage and a reputation for high-intensity play (evidenced by her 27-hit team performance in two games), Addie brings a fearless personality and program-first MAAC Championship experience [3]. No injury history is reported, and her Outstanding Softball Player Award from Northern Lehigh underscores her consistent excellence [4]. She's a data-driven, intensity-first athlete who elevates team morale and fits seamlessly into competitive rosters.
