2026 Brooks Wallace Semifinalist with 19-Game Reach Streak & Late-Inning Heroics
Jackson Lyda, Western Carolina's 6'2" sophomore shortstop, is a 2026 Brooks Wallace Award semifinalist (honoring the nation's top collegiate shortstop) with 34 runs, 24 RBI, and a 19-game reached-base streak in the 2026 season. His differentiators include elite late-game intensity—lacing a run-scoring single past a drawn-in infield in the 9th to win a key game—and a left-handed bat with right-handed throw. Beyond stats, Lyda's personality shines as a fearless, team-first leader who thrives under pressure, making him a perfect fit for any roster needing clutch infield defense and offensive spark. No injury history reported; his intensity level is unmatched.
