Quietly nasty bullpen arm with strikeout juice
In the 2026 season, Bryant sophomore right-hander Owen Birchard flashed real swing-and-miss stuff, opening with a top-100 national reliever ranking (No. 59) after posting a 2-0 record, 1.72 ERA, .151 opponent batting average and 17.2 strikeouts per nine in 15.2 innings as a freshman. He rebounded from a rocky debut to finish the year on a tear, including a five-game stretch with at least three strikeouts per outing. Birchard looks like a compact, high-leverage bullpen piece: not flashy, but aggressive, resilient and already trusted in big spots—exactly the kind of arm that can change a late inning fast.
