In the 2023 season, Eastern Kentucky linebacker Jaylen Herrud logged 27 tackles with 13 solo stops and one pass breakup, following a 2022 season with 44 tackles, a pick-six, and a sack, which shows a dependable, multi-role defender rather than just a stat-sheet filler. At 6-foot-3 and 230 pounds, he has the frame to play downhill, and EKU’s own bio notes he chose the Colonels because it “felt like the best fit,” a nice sign of buy-in and maturity.
