Explosive but lightly used Jayhawk back with sneaky-quick space skills
In the 2025 season, Johnny Thompson Jr. flashed in limited duty for Kansas, finishing with 19 carries for 75 yards and a 3.9-yard average, while earlier seasons showed burst with 32 yards on 5 carries in 2024. Kansas coverage describes him as an elusive runner who does a really good job making defenders miss in space, and his recruiting profile points to a former three-star back with solid size at 5-11, 200 pounds. He’s the kind of back you care about if your team wants agility, change-of-pace juice, and upside more than proven volume.
