Freshman catcher with a grinder’s build and a blank stat sheet
Ben Niemeier is a 2026 freshman catcher at Mississippi Valley State, listed at 5-foot-8, 200 pounds, and appears to be in the early development phase with no current-season stats reported yet. His calling card is the catcher profile itself: compact build, right-right setup, and rostered depth at a premium defensive position, which suggests a developmental prospect more than an established producer right now. For a team, he looks like a high-upside, utility-style add if you value toughness, receiving potential, and long-term growth over immediate numbers.
