Erik Rico brings punch-out stuff and real summer buzz to Fresno State’s staff
In the 2026 season, Fresno State freshman RHP Erik Rico flashed swing-and-miss upside and strikeout ability, and his summer run only sharpened the profile: he posted a 1.08 ERA with 46 strikeouts in 25 innings for Victoria, then followed with a five-inning, one-run, nine-strikeout gem. The appeal is obvious—Rico looks like a high-intensity, attack-the-zone arm who can miss bats in bunches, even if his 2026 college results were uneven (1-5 record). He looks like a fit for teams valuing raw bat-missing upside and development runway.
