Bret Clements brings speed-first value as App State’s bench spark
In the 2026 season, Bret Clements appeared in 15 games for App State, mostly as a pinch runner, scored five runs, and even went 1-for-1 with a hit by pitch in a standout cameo[1][2]. The appeal is less about raw power and more about disruptive speed, baseball IQ, and the kind of low-drama energy coaches love late in games; he looks like a fit for teams that value versatility, situational aggression, and dependable hustle. He’s not yet an everyday bat, but he can absolutely tilt a game with one burst.
