La Salle freshman catcher David McClain brings strong contact skills and on-base ability
McClain arrives at La Salle as a freshman catcher from Bayard Rustin with a track record of producing offense, including a .417 batting average and .517 on-base percentage in his 2025-26 high school stats. He was a Perfect Game Class of 2025 catcher/OF commit to La Salle, and Prep Baseball’s measurable data shows solid bat tools, including a 78.6 max bat speed reading. The appeal is a contact-oriented bat with catcher value; the open question is how quickly that offensive polish and defensive skill translate against college pitching.
