Kayla Smith brings a quiet spark to CCSU’s utility mix
In the 2026 season, Central Connecticut’s Kayla Smith has been a small-sample contributor who has appeared in 5 games with 2 starts, collecting 2 hits in 5 at-bats with 1 run scored; the bigger story is her value as a versatile utility player and a strong academic performer, earning both the NEC Commissioner’s Honor Roll and NEC Academic Honor Roll in 2026. She looks like the kind of dependable, coach-friendly glue player who can cover multiple spots, compete hard, and keep the dugout’s energy steady rather than noisy.
