Christian Helmers is a high-upside 6'4" freshman RHP still finding his footing for UAB
In the 2026 season, Christian Helmers has shown swing-and-miss potential for UAB, including a five-strikeout collegiate debut against Florida and a 23-strikeout total over 21.2 innings, but his season line also shows growing pains with a 9.14 ERA and command that still needs sharpening. He profiles as a big-bodied, homegrown right-hander with starter upside, and his early flashes suggest he can miss bats when he’s in the zone. If your team wants a projectable arm with room to grow, he’s intriguing; if you need instant polish, he’s not there yet.
