All-Freshman OF Jake Ottensmeier: Speedy Lefty with .329 AVG and 13 SBs in 2025
Jake Ottensmeier, Eastern Illinois' 6'0" left-handed outfielder, earned 2025 All-Freshman Team honors after posting a .329 batting average, 25 hits, 17 RBIs, and 13 stolen bases in 33 games, showcasing elite speed and gap-to-gap hitting that led Highland High to the 2024 Class 3A tournament with a .397 senior average [3][5][7][9]. His differentiators include aggressive base-stealing intensity (13 SBs, 3 caught stealing), consistent contact (.354 OBP), and a playful, high-energy personality that energizes the Panthers' lineup [5][9]. With no reported injury history and a proven ability to elevate team performance (3 hits in a key 16-hit win [8]), Ottensmeier is a high-upside fit for teams needing speed, lefty balance, and a clubhouse catalyst who brings freshman-level grit with immediate impact [3][7].
