Tom Early is a contact-first catcher who just caught fire for MVSU
In the 2026 season, Tom Early emerged as a real spark for Mississippi Valley State, earning SWAC Co-Hitter of the Week after batting .412 (7-for-17) with 8 RBI across four games, and he finished the year with a .335 average, .477 OBP, and .845 OPS in 57 career games at MVSU[1][13]. He’s a table-setter with a patient approach, gap-to-gap contact, and enough grit to turn in impact games like his 3-hit, 4-RBI breakout. For a team needing a catcher who competes, gets on base, and can heat up fast, Early looks like a strong fit[1][10].
