Taylor Smith is Virginia’s breakout freshman arm with ace-level upside
In the 2026 season, Taylor Smith emerged as a high-impact right-hander for Virginia, posting a 2.69 ERA with 87 strikeouts in 75.1 innings, ranking fourth in the ACC in ERA. She’s more than just numbers: she already showed big-game poise with a five-inning no-hitter against NC State, and her backstory includes a major rebound from a knee injury before starring as a three-time all-conference ace in high school. The fit is clear—tough, competitive, and still ascending, Smith looks like the kind of pitcher who can change a weekend.
