Weber Neels brings middle-of-the-order thunder and catcher grit to Minnesota
In the 2026 season, Weber Neels has been a force for Minnesota, slashing .337/.437/.603 with 13 home runs and 53 RBIs while starting 50 of 51 games and leading the Gophers in several offensive categories[5]. He’s valuable because he pairs real power with on-base skill, has handled the physical demands of catcher/first base, and brings a competitive edge that shows up in big moments—plus he famously owns Minnesota’s career hit-by-pitch record, a sneaky sign of toughness and fearlessness in the box[13].
