David Ayers has become Butler’s sparkplug in the outfield
In the 2026 season, David Ayers has turned a smooth transition to center field into a breakout year for Butler, hitting .318 with 7 home runs, a 1.047 OPS, and 6 stolen bases through 24 games while showing middle-of-the-order impact and real athletic range. The big differentiator is how quickly he’s simplified his approach at the plate—less noise, more damage—and that’s produced multiple big games, including a 4-for-4, 8-RBI explosion. For teams, Ayers looks like a high-upside, left-handed bat with speed, adaptability, and center-field defensive value.
