UMBC's Danny Wyatt: Clutch Freshman Catcher Heating Up with .304 AVG in 2026
Danny Wyatt, UMBC's 6'0", 200-lb junior DH/catcher, is slashing .304 with 2 HR, 21 RBI, and 24 hits through 2026, highlighted by a walk-off single in a 12-11 thriller vs. UMass Lowell and a dominant .529/.615/1.059 week in 2024 earning America East Player/Rookie honors. His power (10 RBI, 2 HR in 4 games), defensive pop (threw out 100% steal attempts), and clutch gene make him a differentiator—reliable bat with winning intensity perfect for teams needing a steady, strong-armed backstop who thrives in high-pressure spots.
