Nick Filipponi brings real depth behind the plate for Rider
Nick Filipponi is a freshman catcher for Rider in the 2026 season, giving the Broncs a young depth piece at a premium defensive position with room to grow into more playing time.[2][4] Local coverage ranks him as one of New Jersey’s better catchers, placing him 22nd in the state, which hints at a legit all-around baseball profile rather than just a body behind the plate.[1] He looks like a fit for a team that values upside, roster flexibility, and catching depth; the missing piece is proven college production, but the groundwork suggests a sturdy, high-interest developmental piece.[1][2][4]
