Makayla Garcia brings speed, versatility, and WCWS nerves to Texas Tech
In the 2025 season, Makayla Garcia showed she can change a game without a loud stat line: she appeared in 50 games, started 14, hit .214, and delivered one of Texas Tech’s biggest moments with a steal of home against UCLA in the Women’s College World Series. The key fit here is versatility and edge — she’s a left-handed hitter, moves around the infield, and brings real baserunning aggression. The freshman-year resume from UT-Tyler (.362 with Lone Star Conference Freshman of the Year honors) suggests upside, while the big-stage poise says she’s not afraid of pressure.
