Ben Mercado brings rare power to Sacred Heart’s offensive line
Mercado is a 6-foot-2, 288-pound junior OL for Sacred Heart in the 2026 season, and his calling card is obvious: he’s a power-built blocker with real leverage and a background that screams physicality, including two Pennsylvania powerlifting state titles and a national runner-up finish in the 264+ class. He was a 6A first-team all-state nose guard and also earned all-conference honors on both sides of the ball in high school, which suggests a nasty, versatile, high-intensity profile. He did not see game action in 2024, so the appeal here is developmental upside, brute strength, and trench toughness.
