Colorado’s Brute-Force Interior Enforcer Turned Basketball Lifers’ Favorite
Evan Battey was a rugged 6-8, 259-pound forward who became a Colorado icon by pairing bruising interior physicality with reliable finishing; in his senior season in 2021-22, he averaged 12.4 points and 4.7 rebounds, and across his CU career he shot 50.2% from the field while helping the Buffs to 88 wins, the most by any player in program history. He was also named second-team All-Pac-12 in 2022. Battey’s value went beyond the box score: he played with edge, embraced contact, and brought veteran toughness that fits a team needing grit, leadership, and low-maintenance production.
