Power arm with upside in BYU’s right-handed mix
Jaxon Clayton is a freshman right-handed pitcher for BYU in the 2026 season, and the early read is an athlete with real upside rather than just roster filler. Recruiting coverage described him as a 6-foot-1 arm with a four-pitch mix, a low-90s fastball, and feel for multiple breaking balls plus a firm changeup, which points to a starter’s toolkit and some pitchability beyond raw heat. He also brings a two-way background from high school, suggesting athleticism and competitiveness that usually travel well to college baseball.
