Not the Kansas Jayhawk Star You're Thinking Of
The Elijah Johnson linked to the Kansas Jayhawks hails from classic highlight reels of the early 2010s era, where he was a gritty combo guard known for his pesky defense and timely scoring off the bench during KU's Big 12 title runs—but that's ancient history in college hoops. Current Elijah Johnsons in D2/D3 (e.g., 4.5 PPG career at Virginia-Lynchburg or 1.0 PPG in 2023-24 at Bethany Lutheran) are solid role players with rebounding hustle (2.8 RPG) but lack elite speed, shot creation, or rankings to impact high-major rosters. Fun underdog vibe, but skip for your team unless you need depth energy.
