UNC’s defense-first big who made his mark in the paint
Desmond Hubert was a 6-10 forward for North Carolina who stood out as one of the Tar Heels’ better interior defenders and a reliable energy big, not a usage-heavy scorer. In the 2012-13 season, he averaged 1.1 points and 1.7 rebounds in 9.3 minutes, but his real value came from rim protection, physicality, and willingness to do the dirty work. UNC also noted a tough knee injury in 2014-15 that ended his season, so durability is part of the story. If you need a defense-first, low-ego frontcourt piece, that’s his lane.
