Cortez Thompson brings veteran CB instincts and punt-return juice to JMU
In the 2026 season, Cortez Thompson profiles as a seasoned James Madison corner with real ball skills, plus value on special teams as a punt returner. The biggest differentiators are his speed, coverage savvy, and proven impact in the return game, which makes him more than just a “cover guy.” JMU’s own bio highlights him as a two-year starter with good speed and outstanding pass-coverage ability, and his career production includes 141 interception return yards and a 10.1 punt-return average. If you want a tough, multi-use defensive back who can change field position, he fits the bill.
