Experienced Toreros linebacker with San Diego roots and a hard-nosed rep
Matt Gabbard brings veteran familiarity, local ties, and a physical linebacker frame that has long fit the Toreros’ defensive identity; he was listed at 6-0, 235 pounds in USD’s roster archive and later noted in local coverage as a former Toreros linebacker, underscoring his enduring connection to the program[1][4]. The most useful scouting note here is less about splashy stat lines and more about fit: he projects as a tough, disciplined presence who can handle demanding coaching and bring steady intensity, which is exactly the kind of low-drama, high-trust piece a team can appreciate[4].
