Schwalbach gives SIU a tough, middle-of-the-order bat with pop
Mason Schwalbach, a senior C/INF for Southern Illinois in the 2026 season, looks like a sturdy, right-now contributor: he’s hitting .236 with 3 home runs and 13 RBI in 43 games, and he delivered a statement three-run homer in the MVC Tournament opener. He stands out for gap-to-pull power, clutch swing decisions, and versatility behind the plate or in the infield. At 6-foot-0, 220 pounds, he brings a physical, sturdy profile and enough offensive punch to fit a team needing run production from a catcher/utility type.
