Special Teams Standout, Trusted Depth LB, and a Proven Pro Fit
Del'Shawn Phillips is a high-energy linebacker whose biggest calling card is his impact on special teams and his reliability as a depth defender. In the 2025 season, he played 17 games for the Chargers and logged 37 tackles, 1 tackle for loss, and 1 fumble recovery, and he entered 2026 coming off a Second-Team All-Pro special teams honor[4][8]. Illinois listed him as a 6-2, 230-pound linebacker and noted he was ranked the No. 2 junior college linebacker nationally when he arrived, which fits the profile of a physical, developmental player who wins with effort and toughness[2].
