Luke Hayes is a versatile freshman arm with closing upside for Morehead State
In the 2026 season, Luke Hayes has flashed real value for Morehead State as a right-handed pitcher, including a win over Kentucky, a save, and a multi-inning relief outing, but his 5.03 ERA and 22 strikeouts in 19.2 innings show he’s still learning the college strike zone. What makes him interesting is the combo skill set: he’s listed as a catcher/right-handed pitcher, brought in a strong high-school résumé as a contact-oriented bat and dependable defender, and already looks comfortable in high-leverage moments. A good fit for a team that likes tough, multi-role competitors with upside.
