Tanner Blain brings legit dual-role value and a big leg to San Diego State
Blain is a 6-foot-2, 215-pound specialist whose value comes from versatility, with a college career that includes punting and work on kicks and kickoffs, plus 140 career punts at 40.7 yards per kick and a long of 75 yards. His 2016 Mountain West Player of the Week recognition shows he can flip field position when he’s locked in, which is the kind of hidden-value trait coaches love in a punter. The biggest fit question is consistency and ball-placement impact, since the available stat line does not show strong net-punt or inside-20 production.
