Brian Ellis brings proven production and veteran reliability to UMass’s secondary
Brian Ellis profiles as a tough, experienced defensive back whose value goes beyond box-score stats: the UMass roster lists him at 6-0, 210 and notes a career line of 218 tackles, 6 sacks, and 2 interceptions, plus 1.5 sacks and 7 tackles in a game against Bryant, while also saying he’ll continue to contribute on special teams. That combination of physicality, back-end versatility, and willingness to impact kicking units makes him a fit for a team that wants a dependable, high-effort defensive piece with real game experience.
